May 2020

We are excited to join YPO on the 3rd of June to discuss the current temporary staffing market. By covering key topics, we aim to give a first-hand view on how temporary staffing has been affected and the key ways we have supported our clients with their demand and pre-empt any future shortfalls.

What does the Data Say?

Capturing data is key so we can make data-driven decisions now and be informed of the impact in the future. Capturing and monitoring data needs to be at the forefront of planning. Being able to use real-time data to deploy and recruit for the future demands has become paramount to key success.

By using data, we have been able to give our clients information on recruitment and shortfalls. This is to help them continue to support staff and secure the needed workforce for frontline staff.

Are Workers Still Being Recruited?

Adding justifications on CR.Net allow clients to showcase why the order was raised. This is crucial to help show the reasons for why orders are needed – especially during Covid-19.  In week one we had 100+ justifications. This then hit 141+ in week two. It became clear that demand is only increasing and orders and not only continuing, but demand is increasing.

Types of Roles and Re-deployment

Our client, Belfast City Council, re-deployed 50 workers; training them as Cleansing Operatives and Drivers to meet demands and to reinforce their front-line key workers. They enticed them with £30 p/d enhancements to thank them for becoming key workers.

In week 1, Lancashire County Council needed 100 Care workers which is a huge increase to the normal demand. We have worked with them to ensure their current suppliers are prepared. We ensured that we have bolstered our supply chain as well. Recently, they have re-deployed 4,000 workers.

Are Contracts being Extended?

Normally, we manage 100 extensions per day. Currently we are looking at an average of 400 extensions daily, which is a considerable increase. With CR.Net, we can monitor this and feedback to our clients so they can see the demand and what needs to be actioned.

Are Local Suppliers being Utilised?

As a Neutral Vendor, we have a diverse range of supplier stationed across the UK. We ensure that all suppliers have key opportunity and our clients have full access to their local supply chain and SMEs. With the current climate, demand has skyrocketed for temporary staffing; especially to support front line workers.

Local suppliers have become key to supporting and filling this demand. 90% of Liverpool City Council Care workers across 16 homes were filled by local agencies.
