Working with the PPMA We wanted to discuss strategic themes, in particular People and how Social Value is important to working with our Clients. 

When a client is looking to explore how we can help with their Social Value initiatives, we have to sit down and understand what their goals are. Then we can give a list of offerings in a Social Value Action plan so they can pick and choose how we can support the client and their residents. We then catch-up quarterly in business reviews to discuss those activities and explore how we else we could potentially help.

What is Social Value and Why is it so Important?

One thing we wanted to emphasise is the importance of Social Value and what organisations can do to push it up their agendas. The term ‘Social Value’ may not be fully understood by all. A helpful way to look at Public Service Organisations is that they are Social Purpose Organisations. Lots of companies don’t realise they are doing Social Value already; it is important to identify it and make the terminology wider spread.

Social Value impacts the communities that Public Sector organisations work with, this gives greater understanding of their needs and how they can be supported to the fullest.

How Local Authorities and Public Sector Bodies Deliver Better Social Value Outcomes?

It’s important to clarify and realise where the priority areas are, what they need and how can it be delivered. It’s also adding value to understand what your partners offer and how they can support your goals.
By recognising these areas, an organisation can identify what their targets are, what they can offer and how they can report on what has been done and what needs to be done.
