Matrix SCM attended the Society of Personnel & Development Scotland’s annual conference on the 1st and 2nd of November. The theme across the two days was to ‘Channel Your Inner Warrior!’, and there with some fantastic talks that left our exhibition team coming away revitalised and ready to work.

Some of these talks included: Neyber teaching us 20 words we will never forget, Richard MacKinnon who’s talk on ‘Show up! Let’s Go! Keep moving!’ is something we have already started implementing in the office, and PPMA’s own Karen Grave introducing us to their amazing eBook Walk Tall.

 

We conducted research into organisations Recruitment Processes:

 

As part of our contribution to the event, we partnered up with SPDS to try to understand the key problems organisations are facing in their current recruitment process. To do this we created a survey that was handed out throughout the conference to find what issues attendees were facing in their current recruitment process.

The results are now in and there are some interesting numbers, some key figures we have picked from attendee’s top pain points from their current recruitment process include:

82% have talent shortages, with 41% not getting suitable candidate CV’s for roles.

53% experience too much off contract spend.

47% have a lack of visibility and real-time management information of spend

41% are losing time over manual-based processes

From what we can see, the largest issue seems to be finding the right candidates. Organisations current processes are struggling to find talent, which is leading too unsuitable CV’s coming through for roles and causing off-contract spend.

Interestingly nobody we surveyed thought they had a disconnect with local workers and suppliers, so communication is good, but the suppliers just aren’t providing the right candidates for roles. 

Almost half of the people we asked had a lack of visibility and real-time management information of their recruitment spend, with a large percentage of them losing time over manual-based processes.

From these statistics we hope to start conversations about the key problem’s organisations are facing and looking at how we solve them.
