In late 2020 the Chancellor announced the creation of the government Kickstart scheme, meaning that funding would be made available for employers to take on young people at risk of long-term unemployment in order to boost their prospects in the job market. The Social Value team have had the privilege of being able to assist numerous local council clients in providing tailored employability education and support to their young applicants and employees by providing educational wraparound services for the government Kickstart Scheme.
In Camden we’ve been delivering pre-application support to prospective Kickstart applicants, giving them advice and guidance on how best to compose and present their application documents. In Essex, on the other hand, we’ve designed a bespoke package of education for current apprentices and Kickstart employees covering topics such as business communication, professional conduct, and general citizenship skills.
We’re also looking forward to providing interview advice and job-searching tips to young Kickstarters across our public-sector client base in areas such as Somerset and Westminster.
