Following on from our last post, we wanted to provide insight into how we have partnered with our clients to overcome their hiring challenges. Exploring examples and achievements of clients utilising our Neutral Vendor Managed Service model.

Fulfilment Rates in Qualified Social Care with Cardiff County Council:

One challenge that a lot of the market experience is fulfilment problems in hard to fill job categories. These are normally specific to each organisation and can vary depending on multiple factors, such as local pay rate competition and supply of skillset. At Cardiff one fulfilment problem was Qualified Social Care, so our On-Site Account Manager has been working with them to improve efficiencies in the process and increase fulfilment rates.

“Matrix work closely with authority and key stakeholders to ensure fulfilment rates are achieved to ensure operational requirements are met. On hard to fill roles in categories such as Social Care Qualified, we are working closely with our On-Site Account Manager to improve fulfilments rates in this area.”

Shauket Ali, Category Manager, Cardiff County Council

Improving Interim Supply Chain Management with Westminster City Council:

We understand that different job categories require different levels of support. This can be seen in our work with Westminster City Council, where we have built specific supply chains for their Interim recruitment processes.

“Westminster has a significant requirement for temporary agency, interim and senior roles. To accommodate this, we have worked closely with Matrix SCM to build closed supply chain / preferred list of specialist Interim agencies. We now have access to the best Interim agencies, with Matrix facilitating a more direct approach to the recruitment process.”

Harbinder Manku, Corporate Contracts Manager, Westminster City Council

Providing Visibility through our Transparent System with Dudley Council:

Our market leading technology, CR.Net, manages the whole process for you. Whatever data you input, we can report on. As our system is completely transparent, all our clients have full visibility of their recruitment processes through our reporting.

“The MI Matrix provides us gives us an in-depth understanding of where our suppliers are based and crucially how they are performing.”

Sanj Chanda, HR Manager, Dudley Council

Driving 100% Compliance at St Helens Council:

Compliance is vital for organisations, especially when it comes to hiring roles such as social workers at St Helens Council. So, we have built our processes to only allow compliant candidates to progress, ensuring every candidate that starts a role is 100% compliant and qualified for the role.

“Matrix SCM provide us with the means to consistently source high quality, and most importantly, compliant social workers. The system enables us to specify exactly the kind of person we are looking for and only shortlist suitable candidates.”

Children’s Senior Management Team, St Helens Council.

Driving Quick Technology Based Processes with Worcestershire Council:

By removing manual-based work and replacing it with efficient technology driven approaches, we can save organisations time. Worcestershire is a great testament to the effects of technology- based processes, where they have seen the impact of being able to quickly release roles to suppliers.

“It is very simple to create a new order on Matrix-CR.Net, taking 2 to 5 minutes via 4 web pages. The order is then published to the supply chain on the system. You are also able to add any specific requirements that candidates must meet in order to be submitted to a role.”

Natalie Ludlow, HR Client Manager (WCC), HR & OD Services, Worcestershire County Council

Change Management and Fast Implementation with Swindon Borough Council:

Transitioning to a new system or process can be a large task, so Matrix SCM have a team of experts who help with change management, training and implementations of our system. An example of our knowledge being put into practice is the quick and efficient implementation we delivered at Swindon Borough Council:

“Matrix worked with Swindon to ensure a smooth and successful implementation over a 7-week period. 7 weeks was a shorter than usual implementation period but was hugely successful. They provided an on-site presence, onboarded key suppliers and worked hard to win hearts and minds of key stakeholders within the council.”

Sonia Grewal, HR Director, Swindon Borough Council

Research into these challenges and how to overcome them:

This post has been very much focused on overcoming challenges, without exploring why they exist and how you can combat them.

As a market leader, we have running research into the core pain points and positive points that organisations experience in their recruitment processes. Matrix SCM have compiled the results into a report alongside examples of how top organisations are overcoming those issues.

To give you an example, the main areas we see people struggling are:

83% of organisations surveyed in 2018 experienced poor fulfilment in front line service areas. Contrasting that, only 17% had a problem accessing a wide range of talent. However, in 2019, 74% of organisations had poor fulfilment and 55% experienced talent issues.
