Communication in a Technological World
With all the challenges that currently face HR professionals, communication has become key. As a Managed Service Provider of temporary staff, we have been utilising technology to keep dialogue open with our clients so we can understand their capacity of workload now and in the future; ensuring the supply chain is breathable and prepared to support staffing requirements. This pro-actively ensures that there is never shortfall or surprises that could cause problems for our clients.
Keeping this flow of communication alive whilst adding value to our clients has led us to engage in sessions, webinars, panel discussions amongst other activities to keep conversations flowing as well as sharing ideas and best knowledge across clients whilst also supporting them with any current or future challenges. In a world that these activities would normally take place in person, technology has been key in keeping communication flowing and engaging.
The Impact of Workforce Planning
A great example of utilising workforce planning has been our work on Nightingale projects where we worked with our supply chains to ensure they had capacity to support hiring numbers if needed. However, due to the circumstances, there was an understanding between the client, Matrix SCM and the supply chain that we hoped we would never have to place anyone. We just had to ensure that we had the infrastructure in place in case the worst was to happen.
What redeployment has also done is force us to take strategic workforce planning seriously. We found skills, wisdom and knowledge in our existing workforce. This has opened conversations of understanding what skills our current workforce possesses and for HR to explore how they can be utilised to help the organisation and the workers.
