We are proud to announce that last week our Director Barry Moseley has officially been with Matrix SCM for 10 years. So, after a day in the office celebrating that included pizza and cake, we decided to look back at Barry’s work at Matrix SCM and explore how the company has changed.
Having worked within the Neutral Vendor sector for over 19 years, he has taken the business from strength to strength, he has overseen the company grow to manage over £450 million of spend. Looking at our key figures this year, as an organisation Matrix SCM now manages over 50,000 placements a year, with fulfilment rates of 99.6% and 100% compliance guaranteed with every new starter through our system. This quantity of work has proven quality as well, creating an average of 11% cashable savings for our clients, with our system tracking everything that happens throughout the process providing full visibility and control of clients spend and processes.
Part of Matrix SCM’s vision is to bring Technology and People together to improve Client’s recruitment processes and Supply Chains. So, we thought we would explore how these three aspects have changed over the last 10 years with Barry’s Direction:
As our long-standing clients will remember we used to use a system called SProc.Net, our even longer-standing clients may even remember HR.Net. After speaking to our clients and getting feedback that the system was not functioning the way they wanted it to, we created an in-house development team who built Matrix CR.
We found building our own system has been a massive advantage in the Marketplace, as we have the flexibility to tailor our software to meet client demands. Our new software Matrix CR is built specifically to manage the end-to-end procurement of our client's temporary staffing requirements. When it came to naming the software, we moved away from Procurement and HR names we had previously used and called it Matrix Contingency Resourcing, or Matrix CR for short.
Matrix CR is the market leading cloud-based system for automating the end to end procurement of agency staffing. From requesting a worker to paying a supplier, Matrix CR provides a streamlined ordering process that can be accessed anytime, anywhere. Allowing your teams to release roles to pre-approved supply chains within two minutes and giving Management full transparency of historic real-time management information and customisable reports.
We still have some longstanding members of staff that also recently celebrated their 10-year anniversary’s with Matrix SCM, we ran a quick head count and 20% of our staff from 2009 are still with the organisation, that is 6 of the 29 staff we had when Barry started. Each area of the organisation has longstanding employees who are there to support clients throughout their contract. Looking at staff who have been with Matrix SCM more than 10 years we have; David Terry our Implementation Director who helps to set-up organisations on our system, Anne Noakes our Head of Operations and Rebecca Douel our Operations Centre Team Leader who manages the day to day running of our client's contracts. All the way through to Barry Moseley who is a hands-on Director and supports clients Strategically with our Business Management team, and Sarah Hindry who looks after Supplier Enrolment. With Matrix SCM you can be sure that you are always being supported by experts within the industry.
A lot of our new staff have come from building a new structure within the company, including new departments to help further meet our client's needs. This has included the introduction of On-Site Account Managers to manage larger clients, a Marketing team who actively produce Podcasts and Research Documents, as well as our Social Value team who help drive community engagement with our clients.
Our client numbers have quadrupled since 2009 when we were working with 18 clients, we now work with almost 100 organisations across the UK. One of the things we are proud of, not just the amount the business has grown but of our client retention. We currently work with 15 of the 18 clients we were trading with 10 years ago, including but not limited too; Barnsley, Calderdale, Chorley, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Kirklees, Lancashire, Enfield, Lambeth, Redbridge, Preston, Wakefield, Worcestershire and Wrexham. We also have longstanding relationships with multiple clients like Dudley, Derby, Cardiff, and Thurrock Councils where we are on third, fourth and fifth contract extensions.
Our model is proven to work not only with small District Councils of which we have multiple, but also the largest biggest spending Authorities such as London Borough's of Camden, Hackney, Redbridge, Waltham Forest, and Westminster. Supporting remote authorities such as North Yorkshire, through to neighbouring consortiums like the Merseyside Collaboration of 5 Councils and the Yorkshire Collaboration of 4 Councils. On top of this, the business has expanded into Northern Ireland, working with Belfast and 3 other Authorities. We have seen massive growth over the last 10 years and can't wait to continue to grow and support more Councils.
