Matrix SCM have been working with Cardiff Council (Gyngor Caerdydd) since November 2016 as their Neutral Vendor Managed Service Provider for temporary staff. Since partnering together, we have continued to drive savings, visibility, control and continually develop their supply chains.
As a Neutral Vendor, we create a level playing field for suppliers to fulfil roles; giving them equal opportunity to provide candidates. Agencies then, safe in the knowledge that they have equal opportunity, put their best candidates forward knowing that hiring is based purely on the suitability of the worker.
Our approach has been ideal for helping Cardiff Council to engage with more SMEs and local suppliers to fulfil demands. We actively build relationships with our supply chain to ensure that they are in the best position to provide our clients with the right talent at the right time.
“I constantly communicate with agencies; I don’t want them to feel like this is a one-sided arrangement. By having that relationship with the agencies, they understand the model and always put their best candidates forward. I always build that working relationship where they can ask me any questions. Our top agencies are SMEs at the moment.”
Matthew Tellem, Cardiff On-Site Account Manager, Matrix SCM
Our end-to-end procurement platform, CR.Net, captures all data relating to procurement of temporary staff for our clients. This means, through our Reporting and Business Intelligence Suite, we can show real time Management Information; diving into all aspects of the contract such as headcount and costs.
“We have been developing a regional report to show live benchmarking information. If Cardiff Council and other clients from South Wales opt into this, all of them could benefit to see how other clients have been able to secure temporary staffing for similar roles and costs.”
Chris Grimes, Sales Director, Matrix SCM
When we implement a new contract, we bring across 98% of an existing supply chain and expand on this; giving you access to over 2,500+ agencies that we have on pre-agreed terms in our supply chain. At Cardiff Council, we integrated their existing supply chain and built it out with local suppliers to cover shortages in certain areas. This is constantly being managed by our teams and developed throughout the contract to ensure that the supply chain is always fit for purpose and future proof.
“Matrix have worked closely in partnership with Cardiff Council and built relationships with key stakeholders to understand our ever-changing needs and continue to deliver value for money.”
Shauket Ali, Category Manager – Rheolwr Categori, Cardiff Council - Gyngor Caerdydd
