Background
Matrix SCM is a managed service provider that specialises in managing the procurement of services at a day to day transactional level. Working predominately in the Public sector, Matrix cover a broad range of services, specifically working in Temporary Staffing, Permanent Recruitment, Consultancy and Projects.
Matrix aim to deliver cashable savings to our clients which is achieved through re-engineering processes, systemising the transaction and managing the supply chain using objective measures of quality and price.
For Matrix SCM to be successful the rules, legislation and initiatives in each service area need to be understood and built into the transactional process.
Reports to: Senior Business Manager
Role/Responsibilities:
Business Managers are required in the first instance to optimise revenue generation from the core contract and to ensure that the client is receiving the maximum commercial benefit from the service that Matrix SCM provides. Business Managers must also gain maximum contract duration achieving contract extensions with all Clients. This role requires the individual to be able to create excellent working relationships at all levels of the client through Training, support, help guidance and possess an engaging manner.
From optimisation of the defined contract the Business Manager will be required to expand into areas not originally covered by the contract, i.e. additional areas of spend and up selling where applicable. The Business Manager will also be responsible for expansion into additional categories of services spend (Not within current contract scope). The Business Manager will also work closely with procurement to identify additional savings and revenue generating opportunities.
The successful applicant will have to spend a number of days per week away from the Office, whether that is Quarterly Business Reviews, on-site meetings with the clients and must balance this working at Milton Keynes.
- Client Relationship Management
- Primary point of contact for all strategic/operational support
- Responsible for fulfilment and ensuring all SLA’s and KPI’s are met
- Developing and maintaining client relationships with hiring managers and contract manager
- Revenue Management
- Responsible for turnover and net profits of accounts (including an understanding of any additional costs that are incurred to deliver services to clients)
- Managing off contract spend/ non-usage of the system
- Managing introduction of new spend categories

- Producing comprehensive management information
- Delivering formal presentations to senior level clients, Senior Management Team and Board of Directors
- Undertaking client-facing business reviews
- Preparing and reporting monthly budgets and forecasts
- Preparing ad-hoc reports as requested

- Keeping clients informed of additional service offerings
- Working alongside Sales and other colleagues to identify additional opportunities
- Contract Management
- Developing and maintaining senior level client relationships
- Ownership of the contract and resolution of escalated operational issues
- Working alongside Contract Manager to ensure signed contracts are received in a timely manner

The successful Business Manager will ultimately work alongside the Senior Business Manager and will support them on all clients in the South/London. That being said, they will focus primarily on a number of new and existing clients.
The successful applicant will be highly personable with excellent communication skills and a proven ability to build and develop relationships at all levels.
The successful Business Manager will be highly analytical, with a proven ability to interpret a set of figures and create a key account/action plan to optimise. The Business Manager will be highly proficient in the use of Excel, working off spreadsheets and creating charts to emphasise the commercial position.
Delivering data will be the key to success. The Business Manager will be required to articulate the data drawn from spreadsheets and Matrix-CR.net in such a way as to tell the client a story that is factually correct and compelling. The delivery of empirical data will be core to the success of the individual and in turn the business.
Whereas the technical skills to analyse and interpret data will be fundamental to the role, the Business Manager will be personable and diplomatic; he or she will need to show judgement that can be trusted to deliver the right results. The Business Manager must be able to influence client and supplier behaviour whilst maximising profitability for Matrix SCM.
Business Managers must be flexible and adaptable with the capacity to work long hours as necessary in line with the business and staying away from home on occasion. Given the disparate nature of the role Business Managers must show a high level of self-motivation and drive.
Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 8:45am – 5:30pm
Salary: TBC, 6 months’ probation.
All work mileage paid for, Laptop, Phone etc.
