As part of the PPMA’s lunch and learn webinars, Siobhan Goss, the Regeneration Manager at Matrix SCM, discussed how we identify and deliver Social Value with our clients. Exploring how we collaborate on activities to ensure our Social Value work supports local communities whilst working to drive engagement above and beyond what is contracted.
Social Value is an umbrella term for the additional economic, social and environmental benefits provided by our Social Value team and facilitated by some of the suppliers we work with. This is separate to the contracted service. We focus our Social Value work on employability, our position and resources; meaning we are in a strong position to provide help that people may need in the communities we work with. Volunteers from our supply chain attend the events we organise and use their skills and experience to support different groups in the community.
A key message from this session was running through different examples of Social Value activities that we have been running with clients. This ranges from weekly sessions we have been managing in partnership with Waltham Forest Council offering employability, interviewing and CV support. As well as non-traditional Social Value activities such as creating mental health posters that were shared across schools in Redbridge also feature in some sessions.
